The Missouri DWI Institute, LLC

 A Wet Lab is a controlled environment in which subjects consume alcohol to the point of intoxication in order to undergo field sobriety testing for training purposes. Students will break into small groups to practice administering field sobriety testing first on sober individuals, then on individuals who have been drinking.   

 The Missouri DWI Institute will provide a case study involving a real case that has been litigated by faculty. Students will review video evidence and reports and prepare cross-examination questions and other arguments for trial. 

 Students will participate in Moot Court proceedings using their case study analysis with an opportunity to practice cross-examining a law enforcement officer. They will then receive critiques and tips from faculty.  

  The course will be taught using the most recent NHTSA manual (2018), with each student receiving a bound copy. Students will receive digital copies of all NHTSA SFST student and instructor manuals, as well as Drug Recognition Expert and ARIDE (Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement) student and instructor manuals.

Founder Lance A. Platt, Ph.D. is a former police officer and instructor for law enforcement. Since he became a legal consultant, he has built a reputation as a leading expert in alcohol and drug impairment. 

Attending in-person, Dr. Platt will be the lead SFST Instructor for the 2022 Missouri DWI Institute. 

Registration includes 3 nights' stay at the Margaritaville Lake Resort in Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri.
